Bali KITAS
Work Visa Solutions

Any foreigner working in Bali needs a KITAS. It legalises your employment and keeps you clear of the penalties for working on the wrong visa.

  • Sponsor & IMTA covered
  • E-visa to biometrics
  • Extensions on time

The KITAS in brief

The cornerstone of legal work in Indonesia

The KITAS — officially an ITAS, or Limited Stay Permit — is for foreigners who hold a job with an Indonesian entity or carry out specific professional activities.

Enforcement is tightening, especially for influencers and creators. Brand collaborations and paid promotion on a tourist visa risk fines, deportation and future entry bans.

Key considerations

Five rules every KITAS follows

Know these before you apply.

Sponsorship

An Indonesian company or entity always sponsors the KITAS and starts the application.

01

IMTA first

The Ministry of Manpower authorises your employer to hire you for a specific role.

02

Tied to one job

The permit follows your employer and role. Changing jobs usually means a new application or amendment.

03

Six or twelve months

Typically issued for 6 months or 1 year, renewable up to 5 years depending on role and industry.

04

Biometrics

Fingerprints and photo at the local immigration office after you arrive.

05

Step by step

From documents to KITAS card

We guide every stage for accuracy and compliance.

  1. 01

    Documents & sponsor

Your sponsor’s company papers plus your passport, CV, certificates and letter of intent.

  2. 02

    IMTA approval

The Ministry of Manpower approves your employment for the specific role.

  3. 03

    E-visa (VITAS)

Immigration issues an e-visa approval letter so you can enter Indonesia.

  4. 04

    Arrival & biometrics

Report to the local immigration office, typically within 7–14 days of entry.

  5. 05

    Extensions

Start 1–2 months before expiry to avoid overstay fines. We point you to the right office.

Read the full FAQ
Do I need both a KITAS and an IMTA?

Yes. The IMTA from the Ministry of Manpower lets an Indonesian company employ you; the KITAS is your stay permit from immigration, issued on the approved IMTA. Both are mandatory.

What happens to influencers working on a tourist visa?

Paid content and brand collaborations on a tourist visa can lead to fines, deportation and a re-entry blacklist. Enforcement has increased, so the right visa matters.

What income will the digital nomad visa require?

A minimum annual income of USD 60,000 has been indicated for the proposed visa. It is still a proposal — figures are subject to official announcement.

How long do KITAS extensions take?

Extension processing can take 3 to 7 days. Start the process 1–2 months before your permit expires.
