Usually not from inside the country. Your sponsor secures the IMTA and TELEX approval, you collect the entry visa at an Indonesian embassy abroad, then register your KITAS and biometrics after re-entry.
How much does a KITAS cost for remote workers?
There is no freelance KITAS. Government fees run about IDR 1–2 million a year, plus the IMTA work permit (around USD 1,200 a year). Agency and sponsor fees come on top.
What happens if I work on a tourist visa?
Fines up to IDR 500 million, deportation and a multi-year entry ban — including paid influencer content, even when you are paid abroad.
