Bali Work Visa with
Company & Tax
Registration

Set up a PT PMA, get your NIB and tax number, then let your own company sponsor your KITAS — the legal way to run a business and work in Bali.

  • PT PMA registration
  • NIB & NPWP issued
  • Self-sponsored KITAS

Why register

Your company becomes your sponsor

A PT PMA (Foreign Investment Limited Liability Company) lets foreign nationals own and operate a business in Indonesia — and sponsor their own KITAS and those of foreign employees.

As of mid-2026, Indonesia keeps formalising every foreigner earning in the country. Paid work without the right visa, even for an overseas company, risks fines, deportation and re-entry bans.

Company registration

Five steps to a registered company

Expect several weeks for the full setup — precise documents keep it moving.

  1. 01

    Investment plan

Business activities, capital structure and projected investment submitted to the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM).

  2. 02

    Deed of establishment

A public notary drafts the company’s articles of association.

  3. 03

    Ministry legalisation

The Ministry of Law and Human Rights approves the company’s legal standing.

  4. 04

    NIB business licence

Your Business Identification Number, issued through the Online Single Submission (OSS) system.

  5. 05

    NPWP tax number

Taxpayer numbers for the company, then for you — mandatory for transactions and tax compliance.

Then your work visa

From approval to KITAS

Once registered, your company sponsors your work permit. The KITAS is typically issued for 6 or 12 months and is renewable.

RPTKA

Ministry of Manpower approval of the expatriate position: job description, duration and any local counterpart training.

Questions

Company & tax FAQ

Answers on registering a company and getting your tax number.

Read the full FAQ
How do I get a Bali work visa with a tax number?

Register a local company, such as a PT PMA, which then sponsors your KITAS. Along the way you receive an NPWP — your individual taxpayer number for all financial and tax obligations.

What are the legal ways to work remotely in Bali in 2027?

Mainly a work KITAS sponsored by an Indonesian company — or a dedicated remote worker visa if one is officially launched. Working on a tourist visa is illegal.

Can I do brand collaborations on a tourist visa?

No. Paid collabs and commercial content need a work visa such as a KITAS or C5 journalist visa. Doing it on a tourist visa risks fines, deportation and re-entry bans.
